Pigiarvik means a ‘starting place’. The course introduces students to Inuinnaqtun pronunciation and grammar while enabling them to build basic skills including:
- asking and answering simple questions;
- using the singular, dual and plural properly; and
- beginner language for various situations in the home and workplace.
A dialogue in each lesson demonstrates to students how Inuinnaqtun is spoken in daily life and develops their listening skills. Students also receive instruction on reading and writing in roman orthography.
This is Part II of two part course offered in 2 sessions split between October & November. Each session is a 2 week course consisting of ten 1.5 hour evening classes. This course has priority registration for teachers, health centre staff and other workers unable to attend day-time courses.
