Call for Foster Parents in Kinngait

Would you like to make a difference in the life of a child or youth? The Department of Family Services is inviting interested Kinngarmiut to apply to become a foster parent.

Foster parents make a difference in their communities. Some of the benefits of fostering include:

  • supporting children and their families through difficult times;
  • promoting healthy relationships between children and their families;
  • helping children to meet their developmental needs; and
  • becoming part of a team protecting and nurturing children.

Interested applicants must complete a Foster Parent Application, available at the Kinngait Family Services Office. This application can be completed and submitted to a Community Social Services Worker (CSSW). A CSSW can assist in completing the application, if requested.

For more information about application requirements or about fostering in Nunavut, please contact Sarah Knowles at sknowles@gov.nu.ca or call 867-897-3637.
