$625K to provide country food to Nunavut communities
The Government of Nunavut has allocated $625,000 in direct contributions of $25,000 to each of Nunavut’s Hunters and Trappers Organizations (HTOs) to support harvesters in providing Nunavummiut with healthy country food during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This one-time contribution can be used to organize and pay the costs for harvesting activities in the HTO’s home community.
HTOs can use the funds to provide harvesters with fuel and supplies to harvest on behalf of the community, or to purchase country food directly from local harvesters for community distribution.
