Regional Dental Coordinator
This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Cambridge Bay only.
The Regional Dental Coordinator reports to the Manager Clinical Dental Services. It is the responsibility of the Regional Coordinator to manage the dental referral process. To perform this responsibility requires the coordinator to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders both within the territory and out-of-territory. Dental Coordinators manage all specialty referrals (GA, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, etc.) within their region and dependent upon the region coordinate with referral sites located in Winnipeg, Churchill, Edmonton, Iqaluit and Ottawa. There are occasions when other referral sites are utilized outside of these main locations.
In conjunction with the Manager Clinical Dental Services, the Regional Dental Coordinator may also advise on the need for equipment repair and maintenance, and on dental contractor’s community scheduling in their respective regions.
The Regional Dental Coordinator coordinates clients approved by Health Canada, Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program; support the Dental Program; provide leadership, mentor and guide staff; participate in ongoing recruitment initiatives and retention of staff; monitor, identify and recommend professional development, training and education opportunities; draft workplans and contributes to performance monitoring and evaluation; and recommend progressive discipline as required.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a diploma in a health-related field, business administration or related field; two (2) years’ experience in a dental or related field.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
