Finance Officer
This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.
Reporting to the General Director(Director), the Finance Officer (Officer) will provide accounting services such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue transactions, analysis, reporting, financial advice and client support, and other administrative duties as assigned, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial and applicable legislation, policies, procedures, control processes and collective agreements, to ensure quality financial and client services, consistent with the financial and service objectives of the Government of Nunavut.
The Officer plans and conducts assigned financial service es in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable and revenue operations, including the processing of revenue, program related financial accounts, grants and contributions, contracting, payroll, travel and petty cash transactions. The incumbent coordinates financial requirements across the CSFN that impacts the quality of financial documentation and operations system-wide and will also guide departmental employees on applicable legislation and policies and on more complex program accounts.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized college diploma in a related field, plus minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in finance in a computerized environment and experience in providing advisory services.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
