Independent Science Programs for Youth (I SPY)
The Department of Economic Development and Transportation’s Independent Science Programs for Youth (I-SPY), provides grant funding to develop and deliver extracurricular science-based programming for Nunavut youth.
Program Objectives
I-SPY supports initiatives that:
- Generate student interest in science
- Promote careers in science and technology
- Engage students in hands-on science learning opportunities
- Highlight examples of science research and projects relevant to Nunavut
Who can apply
Eligibility for grants under this program is restricted to not-for-profit organizations, including:
- societies registered under the Nunavut Societies Act;
- not-for-profit corporations registered under the Canada Corporations Act;
- registered charities;
- student organizations with a Lottery Licence under the Lotteries Act; or
- student organizations with the written support of a principal, municipal council, or district education authority.
Application
To apply, applicants must submit:
- A completed I-SPY Application Form
- A proposal demonstrating how the program to be delivered will engage students in science activities, generate interest in science among students, and promote careers in science.
- Application deadline for I-SPY is March 31st.
Grant Funding
Up to $50,000 in grant funding is available per year.
