The Dean of Education, Inuit and University Studies is accountable for leading academic programming including Inuit Languages and Culture Programs, Piqqusilirivvik, Education and General University Studies. The Dean is also a support to other College Senior Management in their delivery of appropriate Inuit language and culture content in accordance with Nunavut Arctic College policies.

The Nunavut Arctic College employs a collaborative approach to strategic planning and college wide decision making. This position is a member of the College’s Senior Education and Senior Leadership Teams and shares in collaborative decision-making processes respecting strategic planning and college wide initiatives and activities including, research, learner services and business operations, and to support the inclusion of Inuit language, culture and experience learning across all programs.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of budget management and/or budget development as well as a broad experience in creating and maintaining partnerships, organizational assessment and capacity building. In addition, verbal and written fluency in Inuktut is an asset. 

The incumbent must have a Master’s Degree in a field related, in an areas such as Education, Adult Education, Indigenous Studies, etc. plus five (5) years of recent experience in a senior level position developing and/or managing post-secondary programs while supervising multiple staff OR five (5) of recent experience leading a culturally diverse complex organization, preferably with an extensive understanding of the post-secondary sector.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in Inuktut and English is required for the position.  Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
