The Government of Nunavut (GN) Hivuliqtikhanut Program aims to build and sustain the leadership capacity of its public service employees. We are currently recruiting participants for the Emerging Leaders’ Series
Hivuliqtikhanut is a leadership development program that provides modular, classroom-based learning for three distinct levels (series): emerging leaders, supervisors and senior managers. It is offered to all GN departments and territorial corporations by the Department of Human Resource, Public Service Training division.

Community Social Services Worker(s)

Our intention with this process is to create a qualified pool of applicants to staff current and future Community Social Services Work vacancies across all Nunavut’s 25 communities. Learning Objectives: To develop, strengthen and encourage strategic thinking and understand factors that build strategic alliances and partnerships:  Know why a strategic plan is necessary.  Learn the key steps in leading a strategic plan preparation.  Understand how and why to use expert resource (internal and external).  Understand the importance of individual and team effort in strategic planning  Learn how to set realistic, achievable goals in building a strategic plan.  Develop performance indicators.  Apply Results-Based Management (RBM) in monitoring performance. To help participants understand that conflict is the normal outgrowth of the diversity that characterizes our thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and perceptions and that each of us has the power over whether conflict becomes a negative or positive experience. Course Content: o Introduction o How do you define conflict in small groups? o Do the exercise in the manual connecting the dots o Sources of workplace conflict o Participants completes the Thomas Kilmann questionnaire o Participants will participate in role-playing
