Retail fuel price adjustments

The Department of Community and Government Services, Petroleum Products Division (PPD), informs Nunavummiut of adjustments to retail fuel prices on diesel products, jet fuel and gasoline, according to fluctuations in global crude market prices.

Retail prices in all Nunavut communities, except Iqaluit, will now be standardized. Retail prices on naphtha will remain unchanged throughout Nunavut at eight dollars a can.

The following price adjustments per litre will take effect on April 1, 2019:

  • Diesel Heating, all Nunavut communities except Iqaluit: $1.0390.
  • Diesel Vehicle, all Nunavut communities except Iqaluit: $1.1847.
  • Diesel Aviation, all Nunavut communities except Iqaluit: $1.4253.
  • Gasoline, all Nunavut communities except Iqaluit: $1.0964.
  • Jet Fuel, all Nunavut communities except Iqaluit: $1.5014.

In 2018, PPD awarded the fuel resupply under one contract Nunavut-wide. The standardized pricing reflects the standardized fuel and shipping rate for Nunavut communities. PPD’s early purchase program secured 59% of fuel products during the 2018/19 winter months, for delivery for summer 2019 at a reduced rate.

PPD is committed to provide Nunavummiut with the highest quality products suited for our environment, and only sells the highest grade of products available in Canada:

  • Gasoline: Premium Unleaded Gasoline
  • Diesel products: Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel
  • Jet Fuel: Jet A1

Nunavut remains one of the lowest cost jurisdictions in Canada for the purchase of fuel products.
