Planned closure for GN offices in Iqaluit on September 1, 2021

Government of Nunavut (GN) offices in Iqaluit will be closed all day on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, with the following exceptions:

  • Qikiqtani General Hospital, including mental health services, rehabilitation services, home care and dental care services.
  • Home Covid-19 testing generated via the COVID hotline, will continue to be available.
  • Akausisarvik Mental Health Treatment Centre.
  • Health IT support services will remain active:
    • e-Health Support 867-975-6411 Option #2
    • Telehealth Support 867-975-6411 Option #3
  • QEC Power plant.
  • Corrections facilities.
  • Family Wellness office and through City dispatch at 979-5650.

This closure is due to the City of Iqaluit’s replacement of key isolation valves to the water distribution system.

GN owned and leased buildings will close and water pumps to the buildings will be shut off where applicable. During the shutdown, the fire alarm system will be operational, but the sprinkler systems will be offline. In the event of a fire, the City of Iqaluit Fire Department will be notified.

Community and Government Services Facilities Management and Real Property Division will send out email notifications to all client departments in GN owned and leased buildings to provide guidance and assist with any questions.

GN offices are expected to reopen Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., for regular business.
