Northern Allowance Scam

The Department of Community and Government Services Consumer Affairs division would like to advise Nunavummiut of fraudulent text messages circulating regarding a northern allowance adjustment.

Consumer Affairs received a report of Nunavummiut receiving text messages indicating that their northern allowance was recalculated with a website link to the adjustment attached.

“Your northern allowance was recalculated, and we’ve sent you an adjustment allowencenunavut.ca”

We encourage Nunavummiut not to respond to these text messages or calls and refrain from clicking the link.
