Cultural Orientation Program

The Department of Human Resources is pleased to offer a one-day Cultural Orientation workshop, which focuses on:

All GN employees are welcome to register, but this course will be based on Eastern Standard Time (EST) from 9:00 am -4:30 pm.

Reach Out Workshop (Suicide Intervention Training)

Program Description: A half-day training in suicide alertness.  It helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources who can help them in choosing to live.  Participants don’t need any formal preparation to attend the training—anyone age 15 or older who wants to make a difference can learn the 4 steps: Recognize the signs, Ask about suicide, Listen with positive attitudes and Refer to appropriate resources.

Creating programs for Adult Learners

Courses for participants to learn how to identify a successful training program incorporate adult learning principles; write clear training objectives and instructional outlines. A well-designed adult training course requires effective facilitation as well to ensure learner success. This course will also introduce concepts of effective training facilitation for adult learners/professionals.

Day 1 – Designing leaner-based training for Adult learners

French Second Language (In classroom) – Intermediate

This course will allow the learner to advance their understanding of French. It is designed for French as second language learners.

The course will combine introducing workplace dialogue and vocabulary, with verbal language drills and practise. It will give the learner an understanding of the construction and sounds of French. Upon completion of this course participants should have basic skills in writing French and be able to partake in basic conversational French in public.

French Second Language (In classroom) – Basic Beginner

This course will give the learner an introduction to the French language. It is designed for French as second language learners.
The course will combine introducing vocabulary and sounds, with verbal language drills and practise. It will give the learner a basic understanding of the construction and sounds of the French language. Participants will learn grammar, workplace vocabulary, cultural orientation, and basic communication with others.
