Uqaqatigiilluk! (Talk About It!) - Iqaluit

Uqaqatigiilluk! (Talk About It!) is the Nunavut version of ASIST, a two-day course from Living Works Education
(www.livingworks.net). The workshop is structured around small group discussions and skills practice based on adult
learning principles. Participants learn to recognize the signs of suicide behavior and the skills to talk to people who are
thinking of killing themselves. It empowers participants to feel comfortable intervening and keeping a person safe by
making a plan or connecting them with further help.

How to Write a Project Management Plan

This course focuses on the development of a project management plan. Throughout the activities, the learners will be able to look at the various elements that make up a project management plan and develop a sample plan.

Conflict Resolution

The objective of this course is to help participants understand that conflict is the normal outgrowth of the diversity that characterizes our thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and perceptions and that each of us has the power over whether conflict becomes a negative or positive experience.

Dealing with Stress

This course helps participants develop greater self-awareness and personal stress management abilities by: clarifying the personal meaning of stress; identifying personal sources of stress; becoming aware of personal coping strategies; developing new coping strategies; and developing a personal action plan.

Participants will explore the patterns and barriers that keep us from adapting to change. Move from being overwhelmed to being in charge and establishing balance in our lives by using strengths and finding ways to enhance them.

The first half of this course is focused on developing your minute taking skills. Whether you are a first-time minute-taker or are a seasoned minute-taker, there are relevant skills and knowledge that can be learned and improved upon. This course teaches various techniques that are useful in taking minutes accurately and quickly in various settings, formal and informal.

Emotional Intelligence at Work

The training objectives of this course are to understand and explore the concept of emotional intelligence; to develop and enhance my ability to monitor my own and others' feelings and emotions, and to use this information to guide my thinking and action, particularly as we live through change.

The Government of Canada's communications policy states, "An institution's duty to inform the public includes the obligation to communicate effectively .... To ensure clarity and consistency of information, plain language and proper grammar must be used in all communication with the public."
