A Message from Premier Paul Okalik

ᑐᙵᓱᒋᑦᓯ, Tunngasugitsi,
Quana Qaigaffi, Bienvenue, Welcome.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you, my fellow premiers from the western provinces and territories, to the Annual Western Premiers’ Conference in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Over two days, we will have the collective opportunity to share our common history and focus on our common future. Our work together will support our mutual priorities and recognize our individual needs. Together we will move forward; continuing to contribute to a prosperous and vibrant Canada.

Our common goals of pursuing economic growth and diversity, and benefitiing from the development of our resources, will support the economic and social well-being of our citizens. We share a common challenge to promote and deliver environmental initiatives.

July is a wonderful time of year to visit and explore our vast and beautiful land: spend time learning of our unique culture; find that stunning piece of art work among our many shops; and experience our unspoiled nature under the midnight sun.

We have been awaiting your arrival – welcome to the conference and welcome to Nunavut.
