Under the direction of the Regional Project Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for the application of the GN Project Management Policy to the management of GN capital and O&M funded infrastructure projects to ensure that funding is spent in the most cost effective manner. The Project Manager is responsible for the achievement of the program objectives of the business case and to develop value through infrastructure life-cycle analysis.


The Project Manager will lead the interdepartmental project team for coordination, reporting and on-going communications to the client department, Project Sponsor, all key members and key stakeholders. The Project Manager will develop a project plan that describes the project product, direct and control the project, how the team will carry it out, report and forecast, deliver the project within an agreed upon scope, cost and parameters, all in accordance with the project management methodology. The Project Manager is responsible for efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure and services as well as meeting the basic needs of communities.


The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline with a professional project management certificate. The candidate will also have a minimum of five (5) years of project management experience as well as direct experience managing the development and construction of infrastructure projects. Additional requirements include, knowledge of northern construction, economic, political, social and cross cultural conditions and practices and experience managing project work in northern jurisdictions. As well as financial skills to lead in the development of budgets for capital and O&M projects. The ability to speak Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun is considered an asset.


Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements will be considered.
