Damp Shelter Pilot Project

The Department of Family Services has completed the pilot phase of the damp shelter project in Iqaluit. The shelter will be closing temporarily on July 1, 2019.

The damp shelter project was an emergency winter response to the Iqaluit’s shelters and the Qikitani General Hospital facing increasing challenges in supporting impaired clients and city residents with no place to go.

The Department of Family Services is working to establish and develop a long term and stable damp shelter program supported by ongoing funding, strengthened governance and training and targeted programming support.

For more information about the Iqaluit Damp Shelter, please contact Lindsay Turner; Director of Poverty Reduction at: @email.
