Emergency Preparedness Week 2019

Are you prepared for an emergency? May 5-11, 2019 is Emergency Preparedness Week across Canada and the Department of Community and Government Service reminds Nunavummiut to stay safe and be prepared in case of an emergency. This year’s theme is “Be Emergency Ready.”

You should always have an emergency kit at home with enough supplies for at least 72 hours. When travelling on the land, always take measures to protect yourself in the event of an emergency or equipment failure. Bring extra fuel, food, clothing and camping equipment, even on day trips.

Whether at home or on the land, encourage your friends, family and neighbours to plan, prepare and be aware.
