Re-Advertisement Project Coordinator

Reporting to the Senior Project Coordinator; the Project Coordinator supports the Department to promptly and efficiently respond to the needs of its staff and programs by developing the non-IT materials and resources (e.g., curriculum resources, program materials, and other materials) required as part of effective delivery of departmental services/supports across Nunavut. In so doing, the Project Coordinator ensures Nunavut’s students (K-12, early learning, French education, and adult), educators, and departmental staff are positioned for success through the development of culturally relevant and appropriate materials which clearly, concisely, and accurately convey their intended message. The incumbent, through their activities, ensures that the Department is sufficiently able to respond to the requirements outlined in the Education Act and Regulations, the Curriculum Renewal Plan, Education Program Content Development Directive and any other applicable legislation, policies, directives, Memorandums of Understanding, contribution agreements, etc.
The Project Coordinator supports the Department in the application of its Project Management Process Administrative Directive and participates in/sits on committees (as and when required) that pertain to the activities of the division or the Department as a whole. Additionally, the incumbent ensures that the services and supports they provide reflect/are aligned with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) principles.
The incumbent will have experience successfully designing, developing, modifying, etc. resources and materials to support groups with varying mandates (experience in an Education context is preferable). The incumbent will have strong multi-media expertise in: print design, video, photography, basic website design (design only; no programming); knowledge of and experience with industry-standard software packages such as Adobe Creative Suite; be comfortable using both Apple and PC operating systems; and have knowledge of web- and video-related software, still camera operation, and video camera operation. The incumbent will also have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to develop clear, understandable, and visually appealing resources/materials. The ability to develop and work with teams and participate in shared leadership situations; skilled facilitation skills; skilled project management skills (managing a program or project budget); and experience managing contractors are also required.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a post-secondary diploma or certificate in the field of: Education, Media Studies, or a related field, along with 3 years of experience in media/publishing (experience in the Education sector is an asset); and 3 years of experience in program/resource development and implementation.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French. Ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
