Reporting to the District Director, the Manager, Community Development - Maintenance is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, coordination, administration and development of the housing repair and maintenance delivery capability of community partners through assessment, planning, training, support, assistance, and monitoring so as to enable the partner to directly deliver technical housing programs funded by the Corporation. You will also be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, coordination, and administration of all modernization and improvement projects and the maintenance of corporate assets throughout the 7 Kivalliq communities and fostering community development in the Kivalliq District is instrumental in the technical delivery of Homeownership Programs.

As the Manager you will provide functional and technical guidance to district staff responsible for providing maintenance inspection services; Monitor local housing operations to ensure proper implementation of the Maintenance Management Operating System and other initiatives; Provide technical assistance and expert advice to local housing organizations for the effective and efficient use of maintenance resources; Fostering community and individual development when delivering Maintenance & Improvement, O & M, and home repair programs; Contribute to the effective administration, operation, and positive public image of the Corporation and regional office; and Supervise and direct the activities of one subordinate, and casual staff as required.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of technical principals, code compliance, regulations, and policies related to residential building construction and operations, residential building systems and their interactions. With a thorough understanding of predictive and preventative maintenance practices and tools you will also have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively. You should also have intermediate to advanced computer skills, experience in Business/Financial management, and knowledge of Maintenance management systems with 3 years demonstrated supervisory experience in a related field.

To be invited to an interview you should have a Diploma in Construction Technology or similar with three years of capital or maintenance project management experience OR Journeyman Certification in a residential construction trade with five years of capital or maintenance project management with 3 years of demonstrated supervisory experience in related field.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset. Experience working in a cross-cultural setting is also an asset.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatugangit is an asset.
