This is a senior management position that is critical to the effective operations of Elections Nunavut. Reporting directly to the Chief Electoral Officer, the Assistant Chief Electoral Officer assumes a senior role in the daily work of Elections Nunavut. This includes the execution of Election Nunavut’s mandate under the Nunavut Elections Act and the Plebiscites Act. Due to the highly political nature of the work performed, this position requires excellent judgement and integrity.  

The successful candidate will be an experienced senior manager with proven professional success in managing complex administrative operations. Knowledge of electoral administration is important. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail, including the ability to accurately interpret, administer and explain statutes and regulations.

The Assistant Chief Electoral Officer is a member of the Nunavut Public Service but, pursuant to s. 194 of the Nunavut Elections Act, is not eligible for membership in a bargaining unit.

To be invited for an interview, you must have a post-secondary qualification in a relevant field of study, such as public administration or law.

Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages is an asset.
