Lift your baby’s lip every day.
Check teeth for lines or spots.

5 tips to keep your baby’s teeth healthy:

  1. Wipe your baby’s gums with a soft, clean, damp cloth every day.

  2. Do not put your baby to bed with a bottle, and always just use water, milk or formula at other times.

  3. Brush with a baby toothbrush and only water once teeth start to come in.

  4. Eat healthy. Starting at 6 months of age, choose country foods, baby cereal, and cheese to help keep teeth healthy. Sweet things like juice, pop and candy can cause tooth decay.

  5. Visit a dental care provider before your baby is one year old. Go sooner if you notice white lines or brown spots.
