Launch of an All Inuktut Comedy Book

As part of the Uqausirmut Quviasuutiqarniq Celebrations, the Department of Culture and Heritage is launching an Inuktut comedy book titled, "Iglarnaqtut!"

This new publication is a collection of hilarious stories by 10 Nunavummiut written in Inuktut, both in syllabics and roman orthography. Some of the stories will air on CBC North during Uqausirmut Quviasuutiqarniq.

The authors of the stories are:

- Mususi Ainialik

- Kulluarjuk Simeonie Pootoogook

- Annie Audlaluk

- Olassie Machmer

- Eva Nukapiak 

- Dominic Angutimmarik

- Lena Akittiq Angutirjuaq

- Julia Amagoalik

- Hilarie Makpah

- Imelda Angootealuk

This year’s celebrations of Inuktut are held from February 17 to 28 under the theme, "Our language keeps our culture strong". The Government of Nunavut invites all Nunavummiut to practice, teach, and promote Inuktut at home, school, daycare, work, on the radio and the internet. Each time you use Inuktut, you help to keep our language and culture strong.
