A message from the Utility Rates Review Council
The URRC is required to advise the Minister responsible for the Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) concerning applications by QEC for approval of project permits, for construction of major capital projects, under section 18.1 of the Qulliq Energy Corporation Act, the Corporation must make an application to the Minister for a project permit for any project that will exceed five (5) million dollars.
Qulliq Energy Corporation has filed for a Major Project Permit Application (MPPA) with the Minister Responsible for QEC. The MPPA requests approval for replacement of the existing 2.2MW diesel plant with a 2.6MW diesel plant, at a new site in Kugluktuk. QEC indicates that the proposed project will address deficiencies at the nearly 50 year old existing plant.
The estimated cost of the project is $31.4 Million.
Nunavummiut may make written submissions regarding this project permit application.

5 p.m. (EST) October 18, 2017.
