Salary
Appeals
The
Nunavut Educators' Qualifications Service committee is responsible
for reviewing salary appeals.
Salary
Appeals take place in a five-step process.
Step
1: The educator requests a salary review. This is done by
filling out Step 1 of the Salary Appeal Form and submitting
it to the Registrar with all supporting documentation such as
academic transcripts.
Step
2: The Registrar reviews the salary appeal within 15 days
of receiving it. Once they have made their decision, he/she
completes Step 2 on the Salary Appeal Form and forward it to
the educator and to the Nunavut Educators' Certification Service.
Step
3: Once the educator receives the Registrar's decision he/she
decides if he/she is satisfied with the decision. They complete
Step 3 on the Salary Appeal Form and return it to the Registrar.
If they are satisfied with the decision, no further action is
taken.
Step
4: If the educator is not satisfied with the decision of
the Registrar, the Registrar forwards the appeal to the Nunavut
Educator's Qualification Service Committee (NEQS).
Step
5: The NEQS meets to review the salary appeal. They compete
Step 4 on the Salary Appeal Form and return the form to the
educator and Nunavut Educators' Certification Service. Based
on the regulations, the decision of the NEQS is final.
