Junior
Secondary (grades 7-9)
Aulajaaqtut
The development of Aulajaaqtut 9 in Inuktitut will begin in 2005-06.
Science
The Diversity Module for grades 7 to 9 is being piloted in a number
of schools during the 2005-06 school year.
Mathematics
The WNCP mathematics curriculum framework is currently under revision.
There will be a draft version on their website in 2006-07.
Nunavusiutit
Schools will receive the archaeology module on the Pre-Dorset and
Thule people in 2005-06 for use at the grade 8 level. The materials
include an interactive CD-ROM (developed in partnership with Inuit
Heritage Trust), a teacher’s manual and posters. The module
looks at the archaeology of pre-contact Dorset and Thule ‘dig’
sites and provides a significant amount of background detail and information.
English (EL2)
Four EL2 modules will be distributed to schools in 2005-06. Grade
8 teachers will receive Take Action and Walk On. Grade 9 teachers
will receive a double module, Say Yes to Children. Seven more modules
will be distributed throughout the year (two for grade 9, three for
grade 8, one for grade 7, and one for grades 7 to 9).
Senior Secondary (grades 10-12)
Aulajaaqtut 12
Four modules (including the practicum) will be distributed in early
2005-06 and the final two after the Christmas break.
Inuktitut 12
One module will be distributed in early 2005-06 and the remaining
four will follow as they are completed throughout the year.
Science
Nunavusiutit Environmental Science
Nuna/Terrestrial Systems 10
Development will begin on this program in 2005-06. When complete,
Nuna/Terrestrial Systems 10 will include the Nuulluni Qaujisarniq
science camp modules developed in collaboration with the Department
of Sustainable Resources. This resource is currently available from
each Regional School Operations resource centre. The modules in Nuna/Terrestrial
Systems will be developed for differentiated delivery, that is, students
will be able to continue on to the pure sciences as well as continue
on to Tariuq/Oceans Systems 11 and Sila/Atmospheric Systems 12.
Tariuq/Oceans Systems 11

Social Studies
Nunavusiutit: Nunavut Land Claims Agreement
In collaboration with a number of partners, including Nunavut Sivuniksavut,
the Department is developing a module on the Nunavut land claims agreement.
Social Studies 10-1, 10-2, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1, 30-2
Alberta Education is revising their social studies curriculum. Draft
documents for these courses are available on our website. Implementation
begins with the grade 10-1, 10-2 courses in the 2007-08 school year.
Nunavut Early Apprenticeship Training (NEAT)
The program will be available for implementation in schools in the
2005-06 school year in the context of the Pre-Trades and Engineering
graduation option. Work Experience guidelines are also available.
Both documents will be distributed to schools.
Multiple Graduation Options
The Pre-Trades and Engineering graduation option is being piloted
in grade 10 in Kugluktuk in the 2005-06 year. Other options will be
piloted in upcoming years. Engaging in a pilot is a four-year commitment.
The first year involves extensive community consultation and planning.
Years two to four are implementation. Curriculum and School Services
is looking for communities who are interested and able to pilot the
other multiple graduation options. Please contact us if your community
