Requirements: A variety of areas are considered part of the overall circulation within the building. These include entrance lobby, coat/boot storage areas, corridors, hallways, vestibule spaces, student gathering areas, reception and display. Criteria: These circulation spaces shall be included with all buildings, but not to exceed 25% of the net area. Net area includes instructional and administrative areas.

Student residences
The Department recognizes the unique characteristics of serving a more mature student body through their college programs. Student residences are provided mainly to permit students from the communities to attend regional campuses. This includes both single and family facilities.
Student residences must respond to such factors as:
- student enrolment
- family groupings
- cultural diversity
- requirements stipulated by the Board
- healthy and safe environment for student living and studying
Student housing must be responsive to college needs, and accompanied by a cost/benefit analysis showing that alternative housing arrangements are either not available or affordable in comparison to the proposed housing unit. Any housing requires Ministerial authority before becoming a capital project.
The standards and criteria for housing shall be as follows for single and family units.
