Applying for FANS

Step 1: Read the FANS Program Guide and fill out the FANS Application Form. Make sure you fill it in completely. It must be dated and signed. Missing information will cause delays. Please print clearly. If you need help, contact:

Step 2:You should submit your application as soon as you decide to go to school. The FANS deadline is one calendar month before classes start.

Fax your application toll free to the FANS Office @ 1 877 860 0167. If you do not have a bank account, now is the time to get one. You must have a bank account to receive money from FANS.

Step 3: Fax to FANS the Additional Information Form and the Letter of Acceptance from the school you plan to attend. It is important to do this as soon as you have decided to attend school. Delays in getting this information to FANS may slow down processing of your payments. FANS must have a copy of your Letter of Acceptance.

Step 4: You will receive a letter from FANS that will list the benefits you will receive while attending school. It will also include the procedure that you must follow if you are traveling out of your home community to go to school. You must follow this procedure.

Step 5: When you register for school, make sure that your Student Enrollment Form is filled out and signed by someone in the registrar's office. Fax it to FANS. FANS must have this form before it can pay you.

Step 6: Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students is granted one year at a time. You will need to fill out a Continuation Form and send it with a copy of your transcript to FANS if you are continuing with your studies.
