Welcome Message
from the Commissioner of Nunavut
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Commissioner’s website. This website will help me bring Nunavummiut together, celebrate our lives and promote Nunavut at home and throughout the world.
It is with great honour and respect that I accept the role as Nunavut’s 4th Commissioner to serve all Nunavummiut and to represent their interests, values and traditions locally, nationally and internationally. I took the challenge with the teachings of my grandparents and parents and many other great Elders in mind and heart at my Swearing-in ceremony on May 31, 2010 in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
During the next five years I look forward to travelling extensively throughout Nunavut to participate in celebrations, graduations and cultural events, present awards, recognize residents of distinction, to speak to students and to honour citizens.
Representing all Nunavummiut and promoting Nunavut within the context of the broader worlds is important, as is informing the public of the role of Commissioner. Please visit my website periodically to learn of my activities.
Quanna takuyaqturakni Qaritauyakkut Uvamnut Naunaitkutinganik.
