Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Katimajiit provide advice to the Government of Nunavut how to incorporate IQ in the workplace.

Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Katimajiit Recommendations


To date the Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Katimajiit has provided some recommendations. Below are some of the recommendations:

  • The chair of a meeting, in Inuktitut, should be called ‘Uqaqtitiji’ instead of ‘Iksivautaq’.
  • Text size in newsletters coming from the Government should be in larger font so that it is easier to read.
  • Public information should be provided in Inuktitut so that unilingual Inuktitut speakers can understand the information provided.
  • Welcoming by speaking Inuktitut
  • For Government to use Inuit elders as resource/advisors to develop relevant programs & services

Shuvinai Mike is the Director of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit. The Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit division at the Department of Culture, Language, Elders and Youth provide coordination support to both the Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit Katimajiit and the Tuttarviit.

Each Government of Nunavut department has a member that participates in the by weekly meetings of Tuttarviit. Tuttarviit is link to their home departments to assist in developing Inuit relevant programs and policies.
