Culture and Heritage funding is available in a number of areas, including:
Arts, for individuals/organizations that are involved in the promotion, creation, presentation, appreciation or study of the arts in Nunavut.
The maximum contribution that can be awarded for any single arts proposal is $25,000. Culture and heritage activities, for individuals/organizations that want to undertake activities that foster the promotion and enhancement of culture and heritage in Nunavut.
The maximum grant that can be awarded for any single culture and heritage proposal is $15,000.
The maximum contribution that can be awarded for any single culture and heritage initiative proposal is $75,000. Culture and communications activities, for individuals/organizations that are actively involved in communications for the purpose of preserving, portraying or promoting the culture and heritage of Nunavut.
The maximum grant that can be awarded for any single communications proposal is $15,000.
The maximum contribution that can be awarded for any single communications initiative proposal is $50,000. Nunavut Toponmy Program, for individuals/organizations that undertake geographical names research that leads to the retention and official designation of traditional Inuktitut names for geographical areas and populated places in Nunavut.
The maximum contribution that can be awarded for any single Nunavut Toponmy Program initiative proposal is $20,000. Minor capital projects, for individuals, organizations or local governments that require funding for minor renovations to elder, youth or community heritage/ cultural facilities. Funding is also available for minor capital items that are significant to the heritage of Nunavut and the well-being of Nunavut's elders and youth.
Funding levels depend on the nature of the project and the amount of funding available from other sources.
The maximum capital contribution that can be awarded varies depending on the type of project.
